The New YMCA

The new YMCA will be a facility second to none designed to serve the Halifax peninsula now and into the future. It will support growth in YMCA services for the whole region. With its central location it will provide a myriad of ‘Y’ services housed in an approximately 70,000 sqft facility. The ground floor aquatic complex, cafe, and community room will be joined, via the interior atrium, on upper levels by a gymnasium, running track, conditioning center, ancillary support functions, classrooms, meeting rooms and an expanded childcare facility with its own outdoor garden space. The lower levels will have ample locker and change rooms, including enhanced Men’s Plus and Women’s Plus change rooms with a members lounge, capable of accommodating a growing membership. This new complex will exemplify the social mandates of the YMCA by creating an accessible public place for those who live in and visit HRM.
